The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke over the poor condition of roads across the state, despite what he described as substantial federal allocations accruing to the state over the past three years.

Oyetola spoke in Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Government Area, while addressing APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters at an interactive meeting ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The former governor expressed concern over the state of infrastructure across Osun, particularly the condition of roads, arguing that residents deserved equitable access to government projects and essential services irrespective of their locations.

According to him, “Residents across Osun deserve equitable access to government projects and essential public services regardless of their locality.”

Oyetola accused the Adeleke administration of neglecting several parts of the state, alleging that government projects and development initiatives had been disproportionately concentrated in Ede, the governor’s hometown.

He said, “It is unacceptable that with the substantial federal allocations that have accrued to the state over the past three years, several communities are still grappling with deplorable roads and inadequate infrastructure.”

The minister said the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, would ensure prudent management of the state’s resources and balanced development if elected.

Oyetola said, “An Oyebamiji-led administration will ensure that the resources of Osun are judiciously used for the benefit of all. Development will not be concentrated in one area; every part of the state will receive the attention it deserves.”

He added that the APC candidate would prioritise road rehabilitation and construction, education and primary healthcare.

“AMBO will prioritise the rehabilitation and construction of roads, revitalise the education sector and strengthen primary healthcare. These are essential areas that directly affect the lives of our people,” he said.

Oyetola also accused members of the Accord Party of attacking APC members and subsequently presenting themselves as victims.

He urged APC members to remain united and intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of Saturday’s poll.

“I appeal to all our members to remain united. We must go out and mobilise voters. We must participate actively in the electoral process and remain vigilant against vote manipulation and other electoral malpractices,” he said.

The minister acknowledged the endorsements of Oyebamiji by former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun and other political leaders in Odo-Otin Local Government Area.

He expressed confidence that Oyebamiji would emerge victorious, saying many residents of the state had become dissatisfied with the performance of the incumbent administration.

Oyetola said, “The people are dissatisfied with what they are seeing. But dissatisfaction alone is not enough. We must translate that feeling into votes on Saturday.”

He therefore called on APC supporters to ensure a strong voter turnout, urging them to remain committed to the party throughout the electoral process.
