Former Registrar of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Segun Ajiboye, has congratulated Professor Ephraim Olabode Lucas on his conferment as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), describing the honour as a well-deserved recognition of his contributions beyond his primary career in agriculture.

A retired Professor from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan, Lucas, who holds the honorary designation Hon. FNAL, was pictured with Emeritus Professor Femi Osofisan and Professor Olakunbi Olasope, Secretary of NAL, following the conferment.

The distinguished academic and prolific writer, who received the honour from the academy, was conferred alongside other distinguished Nigerians, including the Shehu of Borno.

Reacting to the development, Ajiboye described Lucas’ achievement as the product of hard work and sustained intellectual contribution, particularly his accomplishments outside agriculture, his primary field.

In a congratulatory message, Ajiboye said: “Hearty congratulations, Baba Lucay! You actually worked your way to attain this height, especially outside your main career in agriculture. It is a well-deserved honour, sir. May your ink never run dry. Cheers to more added caps.”

The former TRCN Registrar prayed that the new Fellow would continue to contribute to intellectual and literary development, saying his “ink” should continue to flow.

NAL is Nigeria’s apex body for scholars in the humanities and letters, with its Fellowship representing one of its highest distinctions.
