The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Nkanu West House of Assembly election in Enugu State, Ifeanyi Nnamani, has stated that the performance of Governor Peter Mbah remains the selling point, stressing that no candidate contesting under the party’s platform will struggle to win the election.

Nnamani agreed that the governor’s achievements in critical sectors had repositioned the APC and endeared the party to the people of the state.

Nnamani said during media interaction that Governor had excelled in every facet of governance, stressing he had restored Enugu to its prime.

He said, “There is no single candidate under the APC that will struggle to win this 2027 election, because Governor Mbah has delivered 101 per cent across board. He has positioned APC, projected it and marketed it to the people.”

The Nkanu West candidate said he was seeking the mandate of his constituents to provide quality representation, adding that his legislative agenda would focus on social intervention, healthcare support, agricultural initiatives and educational support.

According to him, his aspiration was driven by his understanding of the challenges confronting ordinary people, having been involved in business, labour and community-oriented charity activities.

“I know what people are suffering and what people are passing through. I really know the real concerns of my people, of common people, and I believe that if I can have the chance to represent them, I can push those concerns to a conclusion,” he said.

Nnamani acknowledged that the primary responsibility of a legislator was lawmaking, but said effective representation also required lobbying, negotiation and collaboration with the executive arm of government to attract development to the constituency.

He said his proposed four-point agenda would be pursued through legislation, motions, oversight functions and partnerships with relevant government agencies and other stakeholders.

The candidate also promised to personally support some of his constituency initiatives, saying his involvement in charity and free medical interventions predated his political ambition.

“I’ve been doing free medical outreach for over a decade now. I’ve been involved in many charity cases. This is something we do out of passion, out of drive, and as a way of giving back to society,” he said.

On the state government’s healthcare reforms, Nnamani commended Governor Mbah’s investment in the sector, saying his proposed constituency healthcare interventions would complement the administration’s efforts and bring them closer to the grassroots.

He also promised that addressing exploitative landlord-tenant practices would be among his priorities if elected, saying he would sponsor a motion to seek a balance between the interests of landlords and tenants.

Nnamani said his collaboration with Governor Mbah would not prevent him from exercising his constitutional oversight responsibilities, stressing that partnership with the executive did not mean abandoning legislative independence.

“Partnership does not negate the fact that you still have to stand on what is right. There is a part of oversight functions, and it requires making sure that what is passed in the budget is being implemented to the letter,” he said.

The APC candidate expressed confidence in his electoral prospects despite the fact that Nkanu West had historically been associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying voters were increasingly interested in candidates and performance rather than political parties alone.

He described Governor Mbah as the “vehicle” through which the APC was seeking to take Enugu to a new destination, insisting that the administration’s achievements had changed the political calculations in the state.

Nnamani urged the people of Nkanu West not to be distracted by opposition politics, promising to establish an accessible constituency office where residents could bring their concerns to attention.

“My message to my good people of Nkanu West is for them to be hopeful, not to be distracted and to continue supporting our governor,” he said, adding that he would bring “faith and hope” to his representation.

He further urged the electorate to vote for APC candidates across the board in 2027, assuring them that they would not be disappointed.

Nnamani also expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would make significant gains for the APC in Enugu State, saying Governor Mbah’s performance had helped to market the party and increase its acceptance among residents.
