Taraba ALGON commends CAN on golden jubilee, calls for sustained peace

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba state chapter, has commended the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for its steadfast commitment to promoting peace, moral values and interfaith harmony across the state.

The association gave the commendation on Wednesday in Jalingo through its Chairman, Moses Maihankali, while felicitating with CAN and the entire Christian community on the occasion of the association’s Golden Jubilee anniversary.

Maihankali, who is also the Chairman of Kurmi local government council, congratulated the Taraba state chapter of CAN on 50 years of unity, faith and dedicated service.

He noted that CAN’s contributions over the past five decades had played a significant role in fostering social cohesion, spiritual growth and peaceful coexistence within local communities and across Taraba state.

The ALGON chairman spoke as a three-day Ministers of the Gospel Conference, organised by the Taraba State chapter of CAN, continued in Jalingo, with ministers of the gospel drawn from different parts of the country participating in the event.

Maihankali described CAN as a dependable partner in development, stressing that religious institutions have an important role to play in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse backgrounds.

“Fifty years of standing together in faith and service is a monumental achievement. We celebrate the resilience, leadership and unwavering commitment of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Taraba State,” he said.

He further commended CAN for its sustained advocacy for peace, moral rectitude and interfaith harmony since its establishment, saying such efforts remained crucial to the stability and development of the state.

“As you mark this Golden Jubilee, my administration remains dedicated to collaborating with religious institutions to ensure lasting peace, mutual respect and prosperity for all residents of Kurmi Local Government Area,” Maihankali added.

He prayed for continued divine guidance, strength and unity for the leadership and members of CAN in Taraba State as the association begins another chapter in its spiritual and community service.

The chairman also expressed optimism that the partnership between local government authorities and religious organisations would continue to contribute to peacebuilding, community development and social cohesion across the state.
