Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has said state governments are now better funded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, enabling them to implement projects and programmes with direct impact on citizens.
Aliyu stated this in Bodinga Local Government Area of the state during the flag-off of the sale of food items at subsidised rates, an initiative introduced by his administration to provide rural residents and junior civil servants with access to essential commodities at affordable prices.
The governor attributed the state government’s ongoing developmental projects and welfare programmes to increased funding from the Federal Government.
He added that the state’s palliative programmes, including the subsidised sale of food items and the payment of workers’ salaries on the 18th of every month, were also made possible by the improved revenue accruing to the state.
Aliyu urged residents to disregard what he described as campaigns of calumny against President Tinubu and called on them to support his re-election bid in 2027.
He commended the President’s economic policies, describing them as “one of the best things to have happened to Nigeria,” and assured Tinubu of his administration’s total support for his 2027 re-election campaign.
On insecurity, the governor said his administration had continued to support security agencies in their efforts to combat armed banditry across the state.
He said the government recently provided 62 armoured vehicles to security agencies, in addition to more than 200 patrol vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles, which were previously donated to strengthen security operations.
Aliyu stressed the need for residents to support security agencies by providing timely and relevant information on criminal activities.
