An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ogun State, Kayode Oladele, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of spreading unsubstantiated allegations against the party’s governorship candidate, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, ahead of the 2027 election.

Oladele, chairman of the planning committee of the Ogun State APC Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, dismissed the PDP’s allegation that Adeola held a clandestine meeting with electoral officers as baseless and politically motivated.

Oladele described the allegation, contained in a statement issued on Friday by the PDP’s publicity secretary, Kayode Adebayo, as an attempt to present speculation as credible political intelligence.

The former acting executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission, challenged the opposition party to provide verifiable evidence to support its claims.

“The Ogun State PDP has apparently transformed itself into a factory of political fiction where rumours are manufactured, speculation is packaged as intelligence and imaginary events are presented to the public as established facts.”

He questioned the absence of names, a venue, witnesses and documentary evidence to substantiate the alleged meeting, arguing that the PDP had failed to establish that the incident occurred.

The lawyer turned politician ridiculed the opposition’s allegation that unidentified bags were exchanged during the purported meeting and that electoral officers were instructed to manipulate the electoral process.

“Apparently, the PDP now possesses the extraordinary ability to see imaginary meetings in the dead of the night, identify invisible bags and overhear conversations between unidentified individuals at undisclosed locations.”

He accused the PDP of attempting to undermine public confidence in the electoral process through what he described as reckless and unsubstantiated allegations.

Oladele also questioned the party’s claim to credible information, noting that its statement reportedly indicated that it was still awaiting further details of the alleged meeting.

“How can a report be credible when the people making the allegation cannot provide the elementary facts necessary to establish that the alleged event occurred?” .

He added that political suspicion should not be presented as an established fact, warning that such claims could unnecessarily damage confidence in electoral institutions.

The APC chieftain further accused the PDP of concentrating on attacks against Adeola rather than presenting policy alternatives to voters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

He said the opposition should focus on issues such as infrastructure, employment, education, healthcare and economic development instead of making allegations that he described as speculative.

“The people of Ogun State deserve a serious contest of ideas, competence, experience and vision,” Oladele said.

“They deserve to know what each candidate intends to do about infrastructure, employment, education, healthcare and economic development.”

He defended Adeola’s record in public service and infrastructure development, citing roads, schools and healthcare facilities as examples of projects whose impact, he said, could be independently assessed.

He maintained that the APC would not be intimidated by what he described as the opposition’s propaganda, adding that the party would continue to engage voters through lawful democratic activities.

He also urged the PDP to substantiate its allegations and avoid statements that could inflame political tensions or mislead the electorate.
