Sen. Yari distributes food items to IDPS, others in Zamfara

The Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Palliatives State distribution Committee, Dr. Lawal M. Liman, has flagged off the 12th edition of Senator Yari’s parliatives with 145 trucks of Maize and 42,000 bags of Semovita to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, and vulnerable households across Zamfara State.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held in Kaura Namoda, the headquarters of Zamfara North Senatorial district on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Dr. Liman said the distribution will commence simultaneously across the 14 Local Government Areas of the State.

According to him, each beneficiary will receive one 10kg bag of Semovita, while four persons will share one 100kg bag of Maize, stressing that 15,000 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from each of the 14 Local Government Areas, making a total of 210,000 beneficiaries for this 12th phase.

Speaking further, Dr. Lawal M. Liman said the palliatives were provided by Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, considering that it is the mid-term season when food shortages are usually experienced.

“The intervention is aimed at easing hardship and supporting the teeming displaced persons across the State”, he added.

Dr. Liman further revealed that with the commencement of the 12th edition, the distribution of Senator Yari’s palliatives has now reached over 1,900,000 beneficiaries within three years.

He charged the beneficiaries to intensify prayers for the country, and specifically for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the donor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto.
