Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday cautioned its members to desist from blaming the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola and other leaders of the party over the loss of August 15 gubernatorial election in the state.
The party contended that instead of dissipating energy on blame game after its dismal outing during the last exercise, efforts should be intensified to strengthen APC’s unity and cohesion ahead of January presidential poll in the country.
It is recalled that a group identified as Osun APC Stakeholders Forum, had on Thursday petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing Oyetola, who is also the immediate past governor of the state of being responsible for the electoral loss recently suffered by the party.
The group alleged Oyetola of hijacking the party’s leadership and sharing about than 332 federal appointments and elective positions among his cronies more than a year before the conduct of last Saturday’s election.
But a statement by the APC’s director of media and information, Kola Olabisi noted that sponsored newspaper articles by some emergency faceless organisations and recorded video messages have flooded both the social and traditional media, accusing some of the leaders of our party as being responsible for the unenviable outcome of the last governorship election in the state.
The statement reads, “At this stage in the political life of our party, such blame game of any of our leaders or members either directly or by proxy is not what is needed to put the party back on the right track to enable it collectively confront frontally the forthcoming presidential election in the state.
“We understand the genuine complaint of some of our dedicated members and supporters who worked assiduously for our party during the governorship election but felt disappointed by the declared outcome of the exercise which intuitively formed the basis of their complaints.
“What could not be fathomed however, were the sponsored series of badmouthing incidents of some of our leaders who, all along, have been supporting our party with their resources in terms of money, time and pieces of advice that have been sustaining the party to date.
“It is particularly worrisome and nauseating to note that the blame game ploy has been oozing out, by proxy, from the tendencies of those who, information confirmed, glaringly worked against our party in favour of Governor Ademola Adeleke by clandestinely and frivolously engaging in acts of sabotage during the 15th August, 2026 governorship election.”
Describing the development as uncharitable and rebellious, the statement added that “our investigation has proven that it is those entities who worked for the loss of the governorship election that are now scheming to destroy the party at all its level of operations in the state.”
It further observed that recruiting hired to throw brickbats at real or imaginary enemies within the same party would help the present and future plight of the party.
The statement, however, lauded the efforts of members and supporters who put in their all to ensure the victory of our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, in the election, which the saboteurs in our midst, did not allow to manifest.
