Between summer coaching, soft-life, children enjoy holiday steeze

With the imported ‘summer’ holiday concept now a fad in Nigeria, the kids are surely having a time of their life following while the long vacation is on.

“Why not?” 13-year old Oyinkansola responded as an affirmation to having all the fun available to her for as long as the holiday lasts.

She said: “My friends and I have this summer holiday figured out for soft-life and our parents are cool with it so long as we are under constant adult supervision. Although we don’t have the whole day to ourselves as we have to attend summer coaching, which commences by 9:00am and closes by 1:00pm Monday to Friday, but the first fun is that we don’t get to wear the school uniform to class, so, I go all out to dress up for the day before setting out in the morning wearing my best clothes and looking my best. A look in the mirror and I feel like a real princess every day. Also, most of the coaching sessions are fun activities which make every day beautiful and memorable and I am not missing a chance to enjoy every moment until school resumes.”

When asked what she does after the summer class closes each day, Oyinkansola said: “My friends and I get our parents to allow us to hang out at fun places after school. They make the money available to a designated supervisor and we enjoy each day. Sometimes, we go to the swimming pool, sometimes, it’s ice cream and pizza spots, and other times the playground. We also visit each other’s houses and rotate the routine.”
