…Says Hunye, Adebutu lacks capacity to challenge him

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State, Olootu Bolaji Adeniji has criticised those questioning the ancestral roots of the party’s Gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

Recalled that an APC governorship aspirant, Abayomi Hunye and the Peoples Democratic Governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu had expressed concerns about the indigeneity of Adeola, insisting that he was not fit to contest the governship race.

In a press statement issued yesterday, Adeniji cautioned the critics of Adeola to desist from such statement, claiming that both Hunye and Adebutu embarked on such campaign of calumny because they lacked the capacity to challenge Adeola in 2027 elections.

He, however, expressed satisfaction that the ruling party has disowned Hunye, while also pointing out that the PDP governorship candidate had failed woefully to present clear policies or programs to the electorates.

Adeniji explained that rather than Adebutu to present solutions to the state’s pressing development challenges, he decided to focus on what he described as distractions, including questions about Adeola’s ancestry and efforts to prevent his candidacy through procedural tactics.

“Instead of showcasing solutions to pressing development needs of the state, the opposition has been chasing shadows, focusing on YAYI’s ancestry and attempting to block his candidacy through procedural maneuvers”.

The APC chieftain, who described Adebutu and other opposition theatrics as “intellectual laziness and hollowness”, urged the residents to continue supporting Adeola as their preferred candidate, stressing that only visionary leadership backed by verifiable performance and concrete programmes can secure the state’s future.

“Rather than look for ways to appeal to the people of Ogun State, like YAYI has done through undeniable impact, they are busy with campaign of calumny. They have shown no creativity, no policies, no programmes and no intellectual rigour to conceptualize alternatives that can endear them to the people.”

“YAYI’s statewide acceptance is attributed to the series of interventions in the social and economic welfare of our people. These projects have elevated the standard of living of our people and positioned Adeola as a candidate with tangible achievements to showcase”.

“His consultations since emerging the party’s candidate has emphasized continuity of development and expansion of infrastructure to meet the needs of Ogun’s growing population”.

“We will kick off official campaigns very soon, and the decision of the electorate will be anchored on the ability of candidates to showcase practical solutions rather than baseless rhetoric currently being peddled by the opposition”, he added.
