The National Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Dr. Sanusi Abubakar, has commended the Taraba state government and the people of the state for creating a conducive environment for the successful implementation of L-PRES programmes across the state.

Abubakar gave the commendation on Tuesday when he led a team from the national office on an inspection tour of some L-PRES project sites in Taraba state.

He explained that the monitoring visit was undertaken at the instance of the World Bank as part of preparations for the proposed visit of the Minister of Livestock Development to the state.

According to him, the Minister’s visit has been scheduled for November 2026 and will provide an opportunity for the commissioning of some key livestock development projects currently being executed by L-PRES across the state.

Among the facilities inspected by the L-PRES national coordinator and his team were the Livestock Service Centre in Ardo-Kola local government council, the modern abattoir and the Veterinary Hospital.

Abubakar expressed optimism that the completion and commissioning of the projects would significantly transform the livestock sector in Taraba state, improve livestock production and provide better services to farmers and livestock owners.

He further acknowledged the commitment of the Taraba state government towards supporting interventions aimed at strengthening the livestock value chain and improving the livelihoods of livestock farmers.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Professor Nicole Namesaan, commended governor Agbu Kefas for giving the livestock sector the attention and support it requires to thrive.

The commissioner assured the L-PRES national team of the state government’s continued commitment to providing the necessary support for the successful implementation of the projects

He noted that the collaboration between the state government and L-PRES would contribute to the development of sustainable livestock production and strengthen food security in the state.

Meanwhile, the Taraba State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Hananiah G. Albert, expressed appreciation for the support the project has continued to receive from the national office and the state government.

Albert appealed to host communities where L-PRES projects are being implemented to continue supporting the state government, the L-PRES team and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

He stressed that the cooperation of the benefiting communities was essential to ensuring the successful completion, protection and sustainability of the projects.

The inspection tour, according to Albert, is expected to further strengthen preparations for the November commissioning and ensure that the projects are delivered in line with the objectives of L-PRES and its development partners.
