Four killed in fresh bandits’ attack on Sokoto community

Four residents have been killed, seven injured, and four others abducted after armed bandits attacked Gorau community in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.The attack occurred on Wednesday, sending residents fleeing as the assailants opened fire in the community.

Seven victims sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were rushed to hospital for treatment, while the four abducted residents were taken away by the attackers.

The latest violence has deepened grief in Gorau community, coming only days after a deadly boat accident at the community’s crossing point reportedly claimed the lives of 65 passengers, including women and children.

Residents now face renewed fear as the successive tragedies continue to disrupt life in the community.Many residents depend on farming, fishing and transportation for their livelihoods, making the worsening security situation a growing concern.

The latest attack has triggered renewed calls for stronger security measures and increased deployment of security personnel to vulnerable communities in Goronyo and other parts of Sokoto State.As injured victims receive treatment, families of the abducted residents remain anxious over the fate of their loved ones.

The incident has further exposed the insecurity confronting rural communities in the state, with residents demanding urgent action to prevent further loss of lives and protect their livelihoods.
