The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Wushishi, has died after a brief illness.
Dr. Aminu Wushishi reportedly passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, with news of his death reaching Minna, Niger State, around the time of the Juma’at prayer.
His death has thrown associates and political circles into mourning.
Wushishi, who previously served as Secretary of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was said to have taken ill shortly before his death.
His Special Adviser on Media, Stanley Nwosu, confirmed the development to Vanguard.
“Yes, it is true. The NPC chairman died after a brief illness,” Nwosu said.
Details of his death and funeral arrangements were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
