These include the refurbishment of the PHRC Refinery Jetty Complex and substations, maintenance dredging at Forcados for Renaissance, utilities maintenance at NLNG Head Office, and offshore crane maintenance for Chevron. The company is also supplying technical manpower to IOCs and providing engineering design consultancy and other infrastructure services.

He noted that these projects reflect Bridgsite’s commitment to operational excellence, strengthening local capacity, and supporting Nigeria’s industrial and energy objectives. On policy interventions, he identified the sustained implementation and deepening of Nigeria’s Local Content Policy as a cornerstone for long-term growth in the engineering sector and for positioning Nigerian engineers to

He argued that “giving indigenous engineering firms greater responsibility to lead major projects is essential. Such a shift builds technical knowledge and leadership capacity, creates quality jobs, and ensures that critical expertise remains within the country rather than being exported. Equally vital, is deliberate investment in engineering education and human capital. Government should institute structured programs and scholarships that enable top engineering graduates and young professionals to pursue advanced degrees, specialized technical training, and hands-on industry exposure at leading institutions and firms worldwide”.

The goal, he explained, is to create a pipeline where the knowledge and skills acquired abroad are repatriated to strengthen Nigeria’s engineering base. He further emphasized the need for increased funding in research, modern laboratories, and technology acquisition. Coupled with access to affordable, long-term financing for indigenous firms, these interventions would significantly enhance industry competitiveness.

To ensure lasting impact, he called for stronger collaboration among government, academia, regulators, and the private sector. Such alignment, he noted, will accelerate innovation and equip Nigerian engineers with the capacity to deliver world-class projects both domestically and on the international stage.
