As families prepare for a new academic session amid rising costs, Alert Microfinance Bank, a member of Alert Group, has supported 100 pupils in two Lagos schools with essential educational materials.
The beneficiaries, drawn from IPHY Kiddies School, Ebute-Metta, and Rock of Ages School, Ikorodu, received school bags, exercise books, writing materials, mathematical sets and reusable water bottles.
The intervention was carried out under the bank’s Back-to-School Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, with 50 pupils from each school benefiting.
Speaking during the exercise, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Alert Microfinance Bank, Raji Saheed, said the initiative reflected the bank’s commitment to supporting the communities where its customers live and operate.
Saheed said the bank viewed the communities it served as important partners in its growth and was committed to initiatives that could improve people’s lives beyond the provision of financial services.
“At Alert, we believe that our responsibility goes beyond providing financial solutions. The communities and businesses we serve are important partners in our growth, and we are committed to creating opportunities that positively affect the lives of people around them,” he said.
The Chief Marketing Officer, Alert Group, Kayode Abraham, said education remained one of the most important investments in the future, adding that the initiative was designed to provide pupils with some of the basic tools they needed for effective learning.
“Education remains one of the most important investments we can make in the future. Through this initiative, Alert is supporting these children with some of the tools they need to learn with greater confidence as they return to school,” Abraham said.
He added that the programme reflected the bank’s philosophy of turning customer relationships into tangible community impact, encapsulated in its message: “Bank with us, grow with us, give back together.”
At IPHY Kiddies School, the proprietress, Mrs Okeke Anna Ifunaya, commended the bank for the gesture, describing it as timely support for pupils and their parents ahead of the new academic session.
“We appreciate Alert Microfinance Bank for this thoughtful intervention. The materials will be useful to the children and will also provide meaningful support to their parents as they prepare for the new school session,” she said.
The management of Rock of Ages School also expressed appreciation to the bank for extending its relationship with the school beyond banking services to an intervention that directly benefits the pupils.
Alert Microfinance Bank said it would continue to identify opportunities to support communities through initiatives focused on education, financial inclusion, enterprise development and sustainable community growth.
The bank said its Back-to-School programme formed part of its broader commitment to combining financial empowerment with social impact while building sustainable relationships with its customers and the communities it serves.
