The Lagos State Governor,Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that Lagos and Nigeria are proud of the General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries Worldwide, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, for encouraging Nigerian youths to be godly and responsible citizens.

He also commended Muoka’s wife, Mummy G.O., Pastor Mary Muoka, and the entire church for being a force behind Pastor Muoka. The governor disclosed this, last week, at the Church’s yearly youth programme for 2026, titled: “The Youth That Knows The Lord,” taken from Daniel 11:32 and held at the
Lord’s Chosen Revival Ground in Ijesha, Lagos.

He said the church did very well for convening the programme and bringing together young people from across Nigeria and beyond to attend the life-transforming encounter with God.

Describing theprogramme as a remarkable one, the governor who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said, “to see such a large gathering of young people united by faith, purpose and the desire to grow is deeply encouraging. Lagos is proud of you, and Nigeria is proud of you. So, our father, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, we thank you very much.”

Sanwo-Olu noted that the theme of the programme may appear very simple, but very profound.

He quoted Eccl. 12:1, 6, which says: “Remember now your creator in the days of your youth before the difficult days come and the year draw near you, when you say I have no pleasure in them. He explained the meaning of the word, “remember” as something more than just thinking about God.

Adding that the Hebrew word means to act on it; to live in the light of it; to know, walk with God and obey Him.

He urged the youths to remember that God made them who they are and should be accountable to Him, emphasising that without God they are nothing.

“So to know the Lord is more than to know His name. It is to allow God’s knowledge to influence the choices that we make; the way we treat people; the work that we do and the way we conduct ourselves when nobody is looking at us. But knowing that the good Lord is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient and He is everywhere,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that faith in God would make the youths to have good character, and that character is one of the greatest assets that any young person could possess.

According to him, a young person might have talent, education, connection and ambition, but without character those advantages can become liabilities.

The governor said the country needs a generation that combines faith with discipline, ambition with integrity, excellence with humility and success with responsibility.

He also quoted 1 Corth 6:19, 20 and admonished the youths to know their body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, they are not their own, but were bought with price and therefore they should glorify God in their body and in the Spirit.

Describing Lagos as a city of opportunities and a place where young people can turn ideas into businesses, skills into livelihood and talent into impact, the governor assured the people that his government is committed to ensuring that young people have their education, skills and the pathway to make opportunities and live a full life. He said the government can only create opportunities, but it cannot create character. He said the responsibility of creating character solely rests on all Nigerians, families, schools, communities and churches, and commended the organisers of the programme for bringing youths together to build their character.

Quoting 1 Tim 4:12, and Lamentation 3:27, he called on the youths to be an example to the believers in the world in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith and in purity.

According to him, the topic of today has answered the question of thembecoming somebody that knows God and lives in Him, adding thatall those who build good character at young age carry it to their old age.

“So the youth is very important and that is why the Bible is telling us, you must use your youth very well, so that you can live long to serve your Lord,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor enjoined them to learn discipline, responsibility and perseverance, and do not allow pressure, frustration, pursuit of wealth and popularity to detect their lifestyles.

He called on the youth to take the advantage of technology to create, innovate, build businesses and solve problems, stressing that they must know the truth, reject violence, refuse to cheat, respect public resources and insists that leadership should be about service rather than privilege. According to him, your faith must also shape the way you participate in society.

He tasked the youth to put into practice what the have learnt in the four-day programme, praying that God should raise among them, men and women of character, of excellence and compassion spirits, who will serve humanity with integrity and also build a just, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

Responding, the General Overseer, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, commended the deputy governor for his visit and in accordance with the youth, prayed for him, his entourage, Lagosstate governor, BabajideSanwo-Olu,the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu and other visitors.

The youth also presented an Award of Excellence to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat received the award on his behalf.
