Over 1000 pupils from eight public schools in Ikeja federal constituency, Lagos, have benefited from free distribution of educational materials to support them as the 2026/2027 academic session begins.

The educational materials which include school uniforms, bags, notebooks, stationeries and scandals were courtesy of an NGO Olalekan Ayinla Foundation.

The beneficiary schools are Oke Ira primary school Ogba, Onigbongbo Primary School, Maryland, Opebi primary school, Ikeja, Saint Peters primary School Adeniyi Jones primary school, Tokunbo Alli Primary School and Shogunle Primary school.

At the presentation of school bags, scandals, notebooks to pupils, the Donor, Mr Olalekan Ayinla, said the initiative was to give back to the society and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged as well as ease the burden on their parents due to economic realities in the country.

He urged beneficiaries to face their studies squarely, be good ambassadors of their schools and be morally upright to be future leaders of the country.

While noting that despite the challenge encountered during the APC primary election, Ayinla reiterated his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the Lagos Governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, saying the Party remains supreme.

He called on all residents on Ikeja federal constituency to support all APC party candidates to ensure victory.

“Whatever comes from my party, the APC, I am in support. My priority is to support the party and ensure that candidates nominated for various positions are successful.

“I will also encourage members to go into the communities and mobilise support for the party and its candidates,” he said.

He, however, stressed that the back-to-school initiative was primarily focused on supporting pupils and encouraging education.

Appreciating the gesture, Chairman Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Hakeem Shittu, thanked the Olalekan Ayinla foundation saying the initiative would improve learning outcomes.

The LASUBEB chairman represented by Mrs Folake Elliot, appealed to other well meaning Nigerians to borrow a leaf from the Olalekan Ayinla foundation to assist the less privileged in the society.

The Chairman Ojodu LCDA, Mr Segun Odunmbaku, thanked the Philanthropist for the initiative while teachers and students of beneficiary schools who were visibly elated commended the Olalekan Ayinla foundation for putting smiles on their faces.

Mr Anthony Makinde, School Manager, Oke-Ira Primary School, commended the foundation for sustaining its support for the pupils.

Makinde said the foundation had previously supported the school, adding that the latest intervention had again demonstrated its commitment to the welfare and education of the pupils.
