Like Charly Boy, Like ‘Charly Girl’?

The Nigeria social media space was shaken to its marrows last week when controversial artiste, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, celebrated his daughter on her engagement to her female partner.

For a society like Nigeria where same sex relationships of any kind is not only a taboo but a criminal offence, even though some engage in it, secretly, it came as a shock to many, but considering that it involved a Charly Boy, “anything can happen” as was his slogan of his now rested ‘Charly Boy Show’. It is, however, important to note that Charly Boy’s daughter lives outside the shores of Nigeria.

The reactions were mixed. Some did not, however, express any surprise, ‘sebi na Charly Boy na, lion dey born goat?’ Others saw CB as a disappointment and a ‘failed father’.

In reaction, the controversial artiste wrote: “How you wan tell 50-year-old woman how to live her life? At that age, she don already live enough life to know herself,” he wrote.

He said that as a father, he can advise and express his opinion, but does not have the right to control another adult’s life.

Charly Boy revealed that his daughter has five children and a great-grandson, adding that she will always remain his daughter regardless of the choices she makes. He also revealed she was previously in a marriage where she “see pepper” and later entered another relationship after leaving it. “I no fit choose her happiness for her. My own father couldn’t stop me from becoming Charly Boy, the man I wanted to become. So who am I to stand in front of my daughter and try to control the life she has chosen for herself? At the end of the day, na love remain. Make everybody live their truth and find their own happiness,” he added.

Well, T4T is of the opinion that CB has a point. A 50-year old child is no longer a child in the real sense. He or she can take full responsibilities for their actions and inaction. So, for his daughter, she can decide to be ‘Charly Girl’ at 50.  Lion nor dey born goat, truly.

Zazzu At It Again!
ANOTHER controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable or Zazzu, has demanded DNA tests for his two children with actress, Akinyanju Omobolarinde, popularly known as Ashabi Simple, before taking responsibility for their upkeep.

The duo had been at each other’s jugular for over a year now in what has been a troubled affair and every time, the internet was entertained by both parties with sordid, unprintable details of their private life.

So, it did not come to T4T as a surprise that Zazzu is demanding a DNA test for the two children they had together when the affair was rosy. But something also tells T4T that Zazzu may be trying to dodge responsibility and what other smart way to do that than to stall the process of child support knowing well enough that a DNA demand really riles some Nigerian women up.

Ask Wunmi, the acclaimed wife of late singer, Mohbad. This is three years now that she has been dodging a DNA on a son she claimed she had for the singer who died in a controversial circumstances in 2023. Any time Wunmi hear D, even when the NA has not been said, fiam, she will run into her room, bring out her ring lights and record a video crying that they want to kill her beloved son and probably her, and take the ‘billions’ in property and cash his ‘husband’ left behind.

DNA to some women in Nigeria is like COVID-19 or rather, a death sentence. Zazzu may have realized this fact and may be trying to use it to create another Wunmi and Mohbad’s father stalemate.

Soludo And His Babalawo Ambassador 
ANAMBRA State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, granted a convicted traditional native doctor Chidozie Nwangwu (Akwa-Okuko) state pardon and made him an Ambassador for the youths.

As Akwa Okuko was breathing the air of freedom, another Anambra Babalawo was being sent to prison for 11 years for the same offence of preparing supposed get rich money ritual charms for desperate young men in the state.

Now, what T4T is trying to understand is the Ambassadorial award Governor Soludo dashed Akwa Okuko. When T4T saw the video of his ‘welcome back’ to his home where his shrine was located, it was obvious that the young man will not stop doing what sent him to prison in the first place, maybe in a hush hush scale now unlike the annoying loud advertorials online he was running his former operation, promising wealth like he is some god of money sent from a mysterious world.

Well, maybe Soludo would be closely monitoring the Babalawo going forward and before he leaves office, he should extend the same courtesy to the other Babalawos serving time in the state, and also make them Ambassadors. What is good for Akwa Okuko is also good for other Anambra Babalawos.
