Nigerian R&B singer-songwriter Eli Jae returns with “My Boo,” an intimate new single that finds the rising artist navigating love, desire and the sting of rejection.

Born in Port Harcourt and now based in Lagos, Eli Jae blends contemporary R&B with Afro-fusion, pulling inspiration from a wide musical spectrum that includes gospel music and ’90s R&B. “‘My Boo’ is about that feeling of really wanting someone and realizing that wanting them doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll choose you. There’s love in the song, but there’s also that quiet pain of rejection. I wanted to be honest about both,” he told Guardian Music.
