The ugly development raise fresh crisis on the heel of traditional tussle surrounding the legal battle on the emirate crisis in Kano

The irate supporters of Bayero went berserk while accompanying the 15th Emir of Kano on the emir’s possession embarked within the metroplis away from his mini palace on state road.

Bayero had embarked on the public outing amid a large gathering of supporters who lined the streets as his entourage moved through parts of the old city in what could be described as show of strength.

Eyewitnesses account said the celebratory atmosphere was reportedly disrupted when some men within the entourage moved against political billboards mounted along the route, tearing down materials associated with President Tinubu and Governor Yusuf.

The incident generated concern among residents because the destroyed billboards represented the two most prominent political offices in the country and Kano State.

” At some point, irate youth went berserk tore the insignia of the ruling party, that of the President and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. It was a moment of madness that stretched Kano fragile peace to breakable limit.” An eyewitness who simply identify himself as Muktar Mustapha claimed.

The ugly incident exposed the extraordinary sensitivity surrounding public activities involving Bayero, whose separate royal establishment remains at the centre of Kano’s prolonged emirate dispute with the camp of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The incident occured when the Kano State Government had restricted durbar processions and horse-riding activities within the metropolis, citing concerns over public safety and the possibility of clashes between rival supporters.

Meanwhile, the 15th Emir Bayero has reportedly expressed displeasure over the destruction of banners bearing Governor Yusuf’s image and directed that the damaged materials be repaired or replaced.

Bayero who spoke through Chief Councillor, Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan’agundi, condemned the incident insisted that the traditional institution remain above partisan politics.

According to Dan’agundi, Bayero stressed that traditional rulers are “fathers of the people, not politicians,” while appealing to his supporters and well-wishers not to introduce partisan political activities into the affairs of the traditional institution.
