The implementation of the Lagos State Electricity Law, 2024 and its implications for private sector participation and investment across the electricity value chain will take centre stage at the second Lagos Energy Summit scheduled for November.
The two-day summit, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), will hold on November 10 and 11, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The summit, which was earlier scheduled for September, was moved to November to allow for further preparations for the event.
It will also focus on developments in the state’s electricity market, opportunities for investment and innovation, and the evolving regulatory framework and its role in supporting a reliable and sustainable electricity market.
The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Biodun Ogunleye, said the summit would review progress in the state’s electricity sector and identify areas for strategic investment.
“The Summit will not only review the progress recorded since the enactment of the Lagos State Electricity Law, but will also catalyse strategic partnerships and investments that will deliver measurable outcomes across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain,” he said
The programme will feature plenary sessions, technical masterclasses, investment roundtables, exhibitions and business-to-business engagements.
Discussions will also cover renewable energy, electricity infrastructure, decentralised generation and energy investment, as well as the role of the sector in supporting Lagos’ transition towards a 24-hour economy.
Participants will have opportunities to explore potential partnerships, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and other investment opportunities, while technical visits to selected energy infrastructure projects will provide insights into ongoing developments across the state.
The organisers expect more than 4,000 stakeholders to participate physically and virtually, including policymakers, regulators, investors, development partners, industry leaders, government institutions and innovators.
Themed “Lagos Energy Evolution: Transforming the Future,” the summit is also aligned with the state’s Net Zero Agenda and Vision 2030.
The event is expected to provide opportunities for knowledge exchange and direct engagement among government institutions, regulators, investors, development partners, industry players and innovators.
