2027: Excitement as INEC updates NDC logo on portal

INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan

Dickson lauds judiciary, electoral umpire

The opposition camp has received a fresh boost ahead of the 2027 presidential election after the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) logo appeared on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

The development has triggered excitement among supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who are pushing the “OK” ticket as a major challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NDC logo update followed a court ruling affirming the party’s registration, giving fresh momentum to the political platform on which Obi is seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election.

For supporters, the development represents more than a technical update on the electoral commission’s portal. They see it as confirmation that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket is gaining institutional ground as the race for the presidency intensifies.

The growing opposition mood is driven largely by anger over worsening insecurity, rising taxes, economic hardship, and what critics describe as the APC administration’s failure to deliver on its promises.

Across social media and political gatherings, supporters have intensified mobilisation with slogans including, “Our votes must count this time” and “Obi is coming.”

The message is clear: supporters want the 2027 election to be fought not only at campaign rallies but also around the protection and counting of every vote cast.

The development comes amid repeated warnings by INEC against violence, intimidation and other actions capable of undermining the electoral process.

As the 2027 contest gathers steam, the political battle is increasingly shaping up as a referendum on the performance of the APC government, with opposition forces seeking to turn public frustration into electoral change.

Questions over President Bola Tinubu’s capacity to continue leading the country have also entered the political conversation, adding another layer to an already heated contest.

With the NDC now visibly reflected on INEC’s platform, the Obi-Kwankwaso camp appears increasingly determined to convert its growing grassroots enthusiasm into a formidable electoral challenge to the ruling party.

MEANWHILE, the national leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, has reacted to the upload of the party’s approved logo on the INEC portal.

In a post on his verified X handle yesterday, Dickson appreciated the Nigerian judiciary and the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, and all members of the commission’s team for complying with the court judgment.

Dickson also extended gratitude to the National Chairman of the NDC, Moses Cleopas, and the members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) for their hard work.

The former Bayelsa State governor called for all hands to be on deck to ensure that all candidates campaign freely and take their messages to every part of Nigeria without intimidation.
