The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has tasked Iru Ekun Security Network to sustain healthy collaboration with all security agencies in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasised that healthy relationship with the Police,Nigerian Armed Forces, Department of State Service (DSS), and other paramilitary agencies is crucial to community policing and effectiveness of local security initiatives in tackling criminalities in Nigeria.
A statement by his Igboho’s media office, on Saturday disclosed that Sanusi gave the charge in his Abuja office, during a strategic meeting with FCT coordinator of Iru Ekun, Segun Olufadeju, popularly known as Aluwaye and his team.
The Police boss, who lauded the security outfit, emphasised the need for the Iru Ekun to always notify relevant security agencies, most especially the Divisional Police authorities within their jurisdictions on crime prevention and detection before any actionable activity.
Describing the meeting as part of collaborative efforts with the Police to combat crimes, promote peace and tranquility in the country, the statement, however, quoted the founder of Iru Ekun Security Network and Yoruba Nation Agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho to have commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, over his support to the outfit.
The statement reads, “The meeting with FCT CP, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi is part of our commitment to work with the Police and also show gratitude for their major support, which had been responsible for the success we have recorded in reducing rampant cases of abduction, banditry and farmers-herders clashes.
“We are always ready to partner relevant stakeholders in the security sector in further driving peace, protecting communities against hoodlums and other criminals posing threat to our people, most especially law abiding Nigerians in the South West.
“The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, IGP Tunji Disu, the Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, and other heads of security agencies have all been supportive and instrumental to our operational achievements. We will continue to leverage on this healthy collaboration for the overall interest of Nigeria.”
The FCT coordinator of Iru Ekun, Segun Olufadeju, had during the meeting with Sanusi promised to always inform and engage Police in the FCT regarding their activities.
