Nigeria’s fast-rising tennis sensation Mabubat Rasaki will compete at the ATP U-12 Intercontinental Tennis Championship in Kazakhstan over the next few days.
Rasaki is among eight athletes from Africa scheduled to participate in the event starting from October 10 to 17, 2026.
Mabubat left Nigeria for Kazakhstan on Friday, where she will compete against other talent in the world as she continues to gather experience at home and abroad.
The 12-year-old from Oyo State gained recognition from the Confederation of African Tennis following a run of impressive outings in local and international competitions.
Rasaki’s recognition comes after she, alongside Chisimdi Afam-Mbonu and Dabira Oluwaseyi, helped Nigeria emerge champions at the West African Under-12 level as they sealed qualification for the African Junior Tennis Championship next year.
Her emergence among other talent reflects the vision of Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor Ochei, Esq., FNSE, President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, to identify young talent, develop and expose them to international competitions, thereby facilitating their development in the sport.
Rasaki’s selection is a testament to the abundance of young and talented athletes across various sports in the country who need early discovery, nurturing, and exposure to tournaments to sharpen their skills and aid their development.
