Why I’m Supporting Olajengbesi’s Rep Bid – Vice Chair, Osun Monarchs Council

Vice Chairman of the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye,

The Vice Chairman of the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, says he is supporting the 2027 House of Representatives’ bid of human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, because the Accord Party candidate has demonstrated capacity for adequate representation of the people of Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency in the green chamber.

The traditional ruler, who is also the Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, said the presence of the incumbent holder of the office, Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress, in the green chamber for 24 years has not benefited the federal constituency in any way.

Oba Agunsoye spoke when he inaugurated the Pelumi Olajengbesi House of Representatives Campaign Council at Ijebu-Jesa Town Hall over the weekend.

The monarch said, “After 24 years of representation by Obokun Local Government, it is only right for Oriade Local Government to represent this federal constituency. Let us ask ourselves what Wole Oke did for 24 years to amass wealth. Our son, Pelumi Olajengbesi has built a successful career in private practice as a lawyer.

“For 24 years, how many schools or public institutions did Wole Oke establish or influence their establishment in Oriade Local Government? This is not to ridicule anybody but everyone should be rated according to their performance.

“I am here today because Pelumi Olajengbesi is a youth and a worthy representative of Obokun/Oriade local government areas. He has made me to understand that he is going to the House of Representatives to work hard for this constituency and that is why I want us to support him. It is a must for Olajengbesi to win this election. If we make any mistake, I pray it won’t be intolerable for us all.”

The event also featured the Olomo of Omo-Ijesa and the Oniwo of Iwo-Ijesa and they expressed confidence in Olajengbesi’s ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Oriade and Obokun as their representative in the House of Representatives.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, led the Pelumi Olajengbesi House of Representatives Campaign Council for the January 2027 election. The council has a team of 335 persons.
