Sir: One of the most fascinating and interesting colours is blue.
Our lives are mostly spent between the azure dome of the sky and the green covering of the earth. But for those of us who, “go down to the sea in ships,” the blue above is reflected in the blue below, heaven’s vault in:
“The sea, the sea, the open sea,
The blue, the fresh, the ever free!”
What a difference it makes to us when the golden sun shines out of a blue sky, and brightens all the colours of the earth, instead of their being muted and toned down by the ambience of lowering grey or black clouds.
This gentle colour is sometimes applied to smoke, distant hills, moonlight, lakes and rivers. In Efurum, by Flora Nwapa, it was the colour the goddess Uhamin saw in a dream, gorgeously dressed and “fanning herself underneath the deep blue lake.”
It is also the colour of a variety of precious stones like, sapphire, turquoise, aquamarine and beryl.
A peacock is a bird with enchanting and splendid plumage and peacock blue is the lustrous and sparkling blue on a peacock’s neck.
With painters, the blue is one of the three primary colours, the others being yellow and red. A blue dye, called woad by the ancient Britons, indigo by Nigerians was used for body decorations on special occasions.
Blue is also the colour of love, as sung by many great musicians who were fascinated by its alluring, cool nature and beauty.
The ethereal and romantic nature of colour blue inspired many Rhythms and Blues musicians to sing sweet love ballads and great hits for many decades ago.
The purely spiritual and overwhelming beauty of colour blue spread across the sky is a constant stamp and reminder of the unconditional love the Almighty God have for humanity since creation and it is even there as I type this.
Take a break and gaze at the hovering sky and heavens above and you will realise the fact that the good Lord love human beings so much and that was why He coloured the entire vast sky with this beautiful and enchanting colour, showing His presence always.
Yorubas have a proverbial saying, “Ife ni Olorun Oba fi so Ile aiye ro.” meaning, “The Almighty God moulded and covered the whole world with His love.”
Before you take a wrong and evil step or wicked decision, think about the, “Love of the Almighty God over His Creation.”
Nothing is hidden to the Almighty God.
Be good and kind always.
