U.S., France, Brazil commit to Nigerian talents, partner AFRIFF

Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa

United States, France and Brazil have reiterated their commitment to Nigeria’s talent development through their support for Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).
‎
This was announced at the press conference announcing the 15th edition of AFRIFF, held yesterday in Lagos.

The festival, which would be held from November 1 to 7, is themed “Frames of the Future”.
‎
According to the United States Consul General in Lagos, Brandon Hudspeth, this year, AFRIFF tells a story of what the future film industry could look like, one where creators meet international demand and global demand for distribution services while remaining true to their art and true to their storytelling.
‎
He stressed that the future of film belongs to those who can pair creative talent with technology and sell the whole story.

The Consul General of France in Lagos, Laurent Favier, noted that one of France’s resilient strategies has been to place international alliances at the core of its new approach, adding that success in the international market does not require a certain conformity which sticks to the mainstream of cinema.
‎
He explained that international productions offer an opportunity to express distinctive identities and create new shared opportunities.

‎Brazil Consul General in Lagos, Ronaldo Vieira, explaining the importance of the partnership with AFRIFF, said that Brazil believes in looking at the future and that cinema is a place to build narrative.
‎ ‎
She stated that women are the future, explaining that the future is not about technology or AI.
