The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed sadness over the passing of former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan.
In a statement on Monday in Abuja, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh noted that Uduaghan played a notable role during a period of heightened political tension in Nigeria.
Okoh observed that Uduaghan’s commitment to dialogue, confidence-building and the preservation of national unity remains worthy of commendation.
He said, ” His passing is a loss to his family and all who valued his contributions to public service and nation-building. On behalf of CAN, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the government and people of Delta State, and all who mourn this loss. May God comfort them in this difficult moment. I pray that God will comfort his family and all who mourn him, and grant his soul eternal rest”.
Uduaghan died after a brief illness at the age of 71.
