Leadway Assurance has been named Insurance Company of the Year at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards for the third consecutive year.

The insurer received the award at the 14th edition of the ceremony in Lagos, following its wins in 2024 and 2025.

The recognition acknowledges the company’s performance in the insurance industry, including a 30 per cent increase in insurance revenue to N225.3 billion in 2025, from N173.2 billion in 2024.

Its total assets rose from N1.024 trillion to N1.155 trillion during the period, while claims paid increased by 17 per cent to N137 billion from N117 billion.

Leadway Assurance’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Gboyega Lesi, said the award reflected customers’ confidence in the company and its commitment to service delivery, accountability and claims settlement.

He said the insurer would continue to strengthen its offerings to meet customers’ evolving needs and provide broader financial protection for individuals, families and businesses.

In August 2026, the company introduced the Leadway Lifetime Plan, a whole-of-life insurance product designed to provide long-term protection for policyholders and their families.

It also launched the Arrival Pack in September to provide insurance cover for short-term visitors to Nigeria and businesses serving them.
