Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) has been named Africa’s Best Exchange at the Euromoney Markets Awards 2026, in recognition of its contribution to market infrastructure, digital innovation and capital formation.
The award, presented at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, on October 15, 2026, recognises achievements in market development during 2025, amid sustained growth in Nigeria’s equities market.
The Group’s performance has been supported by efforts to improve access to investment opportunities through digital platforms, strengthen market infrastructure and expand participation in public offers and rights issues.
A major part of this drive is NGX Invest, the Group’s electronic public-offering platform, which simplifies the process of subscribing to public offers and rights issues. The platform played a significant role in the banking sector recapitalisation exercise, facilitating more than N2.8 trillion in capital raising.
By September 2026, the platform’s distribution network had expanded to more than 180 channels, including stockbrokers, banks and fintech companies. Its WhatsApp subscription channel has also provided investors with another avenue to participate in public offers.
Nigeria’s equities market recorded strong growth in 2025, with the Nigerian Exchange All-Share Index rising by 51.19 per cent. In addition, equities turnover increased by 109.48 per cent to N5.96 trillion, while market capitalisation reached N99.38 trillion.
The positive trend has continued in 2026. As of October 16, the All-Share Index had gained 59.07 per cent year-to-date, while equities turnover rose to N7.82 trillion, representing a 73.78 per cent increase from N4.50 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
Market capitalisation also reached N160.73 trillion, reflecting the expansion in the value of listed equities.
Commenting on the award, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NGX Group, Temi Popoola, said the recognition reflected the Group’s commitment to strengthening the infrastructure and technology needed to support capital formation and investment.
He said the Group appreciated the support of regulators, policymakers, issuers, investors, stockbrokers and other market participants in advancing the development of Nigeria’s capital market.
Popoola said NGX Group would continue to widen digital access to investment opportunities, improve market efficiency and strengthen connections with other African markets to make Nigeria’s capital market more accessible, resilient and competitive.
He added that the recognition would encourage the Group to sustain efforts to mobilise capital for businesses and expand investment opportunities.
