President Bola Tinubu’s rejection of a return to fuel subsidy has drawn sharp criticism from Prince Justice Faloye, President of the ASHE Foundation, who says the administration’s position reflects what he calls a “coloniality of knowledge and being” that continues to deepen poverty in Nigeria and across Africa.
Faloye, who is also the National Publicity Secretary Afenifere, was reacting to President Tinubu’s statement likening calls for the restoration of fuel subsidy to asking Moses to return to Egypt. He noted that the President had insisted that Nigeria cannot afford to reverse the removal of the subsidy, saying the country would “go bankrupt” if it did.
Faloye stated: “President Tinubu’s statement likening the return to production energy subsidies to a return to Egypt slavery is due to coloniality of knowledge and being, which is at the root of the continued economic deprivation of Nigeria, and the Black Race as a whole. Without proper knowledge of self and environment, it is impossible to have the right worldview and ideological perspective, which is why President Tinubu is ideologically blinded to the use of subsidies to create income and employment multiplier effects across the economy to uplift the two thirds in poverty.
“It is an undeniable historic fact that Pharaonic Egypt was Black African from where the Afroasiatic herdsmen left, so if Tinubu’s ancestors left with the Exodus they followed the wrong people and ideology. And unfortunately still following the wrong identity and ideology, through 1800s Madam Tinubu, the slave trader, and now Bola Tinubu wrongly implementing neoliberalism, an economic re-enslavement policy.
“Instead of identifying with the African civilizational economic philosophy of Afenifere/Ubuntu abundance for all, President Tinubu adopted the scarcity mentality of the freezing wilderness based on mass slavery and exploitation by a few. He refuses to see that the $10 billion fuel subsidies had several fold multiplier effects on productivity, income and employment across the economy, and that Nigerians not only require fuel, electricity and other energy subsidies, but also free education, free health and guaranteed housing. Not as charity, palliatives nor discounts but as an economic plan to stimulate economic growth.
“In Genesis 41 and 47, it was actually Joseph that implemented the economic reforms that turned Black Egyptians into slaves in their own lands, while his small clique of Levi Priests ate fat, until the regime was overthrown and his people were turned into slaves. They left to implement their harsh racist capitalist ideologies across the world from European feudalism to African slavery. From trans-Saharan slavery to Transatlantic African slavery that built the Western economy, to colonization and now neo-colonization through neoliberal economic policies, the economic reality has been the exploitation of the masses by a few rich.
“In Africa, our economic ideology is that of abundance known as Afenifere and Ubuntu – I Am Because We Are – but our culturally misguided political elite practice Abrahamic ideologies of scarcity from cold wildernesses, like the Parable of Talents – ‘To those who have, more will be given… and from those who have not, even what they have will be taken away”. Civilizations and ideologies are shaped by their immediate environment, but African neocolonial leaders shun theirs due to Miseducation of the Negro by Teachers teaching them nonsense. Not knowing that Yorubas are genetically proven to be the oldest full size humans, whose civilizational sociopolitical and economic perspectives are second to none.
“President Tinubu ignorant of true Black history from Egypt to Nigeria, fails to understand that the neoliberal economic ideology he pushes as inevitable natural law, was designed by Western racist capitalists in the Seventies to return Black people into economic slavery, following independence and the likes of Awolowo Afenifere trying to uplift the people with social democracy and economic welfarism with subsidies.
“Chicago School of Economics Professor Milton Friedman in the Seventies developed the neoliberal economic ideology based on fallacious free market principles, which were enforced both home and abroad by British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and US President Ronald Reagan. Through the IMF and World Bank, neoliberalism was forced on Nigeria, first through General Obasanjo that stopped education subsidies in 1978, before the whole neoliberal structural reforms were carried out by General Ibrahim Babaginda in 1986.
“Ever since then, for forty years, Nigeria has been wandering in economic wilderness due to wrong ideologies that retard growth, as neoliberal gospel preached currency devaluation that devalued real wages, removal of subsidies breaching social contracts, and privatization of national assets sold to a few that served at the national altar. Rather than the promised Paradise, we have found ourselves in Hell by becoming the world’s homelessness capital with 30 million homeless, the highest birth and infant mortality rates and lowest life expectancy. To make it worse, they also brought their herdsmen mercenaries to steal our peace.
“It is coming to a time when Joseph and his reformist herdsmen with be pushed out of power into political exile. The Neoliberal ideologues like Tinubu, Obi and Atiku must be electoral replaced by social Democrats with economic welfarism like Prince Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party, otherwise a revolution against Joseph neoliberals will send them into the Atlantic Ocean that can’t be parted by his limp rod.
