The Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Special Duties and Strategy, Olufemi Fadairo, has called on Nigerian politicians to draw lessons from the life of the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, particularly his contentment, humility and approach to life.
Fadairo, who urged political leaders to embrace the values that defined the centenarian’s life, stated this while speaking to newsmen at the Ijapo residence of Pa Fasoranti while paying tribute to the late sage, described his passing as a profound loss to Akure Kingdom, Ondo State and Nigeria.
The governor’s aide described the late sage as a rare breed of politician whose life and legacy offered important lessons for the political class, especially at a time when the conduct and motivations of public office holders remain subjects of national concern.
Fadairo explained that one of the most remarkable attributes of the foremost Afenifere leader was his contentment with what God had given him, stressing that such virtue should inspire politicians to reassess their priorities and the values guiding their public and private lives.
He urged those occupying positions of authority to learn from Pa Fasoranti’s example, adding that his life demonstrated the importance of appreciating one’s blessings rather than being driven by an endless desire for more.
“As a political figure in Nigeria, Baba Fasoranti had the spirit of contentment. All our politicians should emulate Baba’s spirit of contentment. While he was alive, he was very contented with what God had deposited for him, so everyone should emulate that,” Fadairo said.
He also described the late statesman as a father figure, mentor, and political leader whose influence extended beyond his immediate community to Ondo State and the country at large.
Fadairo observed that Pa Fasoranti’s death had created a void in Akure Kingdom, noting that the community had lost a distinguished son whose life earned him respect and recognition across different generations.
“Akure has lost a rare gem, a mentor, a father and a leader. Today, we are here to commiserate with the entire Akure Kingdom, the family, the state and the nation,” he said.
The governor’s aide added that the death of the centenarian was not only a painful moment for his immediate family but also an occasion for the wider community to reflect on the life he lived and the values he represented.
He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the long life of the deceased and the legacy he left behind, expressing hope that they would find the strength to overcome the grief occasioned by his passing.
