Hyundai Motors Nigeria has expanded its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) range with the introduction of the all-new Mufasa and Grand Creta, targeting motorists seeking modern styling, improved comfort and versatile mobility options.

The two models were unveiled in Lagos earlier in the week as the company seeks to strengthen its presence in Nigeria’s competitive SUV market, with the Mufasa positioned as a five-seater vehicle and the Grand Creta offering seating for up to seven occupants.

Speaking at the launch, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motors Nigeria, Gaurav Vashisht, said the new models were developed to meet the changing preferences of Nigerian motorists, particularly in the areas of comfort, safety, technology and versatility.

According to him, the introduction of the two SUVs indicated the company’s commitment to offering vehicles suited to different lifestyles while maintaining its global standards of quality and innovation.

The Hyundai Mufasa is powered by a 2.0-litre Smartstream multi-point injection (MPi) petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Depending on market specification, the engine produces between 150 and 160 horsepower, with torque of 193Nm.

The front-wheel-drive SUV features a 54-litre fuel tank and measures approximately 4,475mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,685mm in height. Its 2,680mm wheelbase is designed to provide adequate cabin space for five occupants.

The model features a distinctive front grille, LED lighting and a contemporary dashboard layout. Available equipment, depending on the variant, includes a touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and selectable driving modes.

Its safety and driver-assistance features include an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, airbags and parking assistance, depending on specification.

The Grand Creta, meanwhile, is designed for customers requiring additional passenger capacity and cabin flexibility. Its three-row configuration accommodates up to seven occupants, while a 2,760mm wheelbase provides room for passengers and luggage.

The SUV’s available 2.0-litre Smartstream petrol engine produces approximately 159 horsepower and 191Nm of torque. Automatic variants are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Depending on the trim level, the Grand Creta offers an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, rear air-conditioning vents, keyless entry, push-button start and a digital instrument cluster.

Other available features include leather-appointed seats, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety equipment includes six airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points, depending on the variant.

Vashisht said the two models would widen the choices available to Nigerian customers, with the Mufasa catering to motorists seeking a combination of contemporary design and everyday practicality, while the Grand Creta targets families requiring more passenger space.

He added that the company’s focus extended beyond vehicle sales to include after-sales support, authorised dealership services and access to genuine spare parts.
