Nigerian music artist Tchella is set to feature on the theme song for Ado-Ire’s Quest, an upcoming stage musical by Patrick Speech & Language Centre that brings together adventure, African storytelling and a commitment to providing paid creative opportunities for people with disabilities.

For Tchella, the decision to participate was driven by the opportunity to make music that reaches beyond entertainment and contributes to a story with a clear social purpose.

“I’ve always wanted my music to do something special,” he said. “I didn’t really get into music to become very famous. I got into music because I wanted the songs I make to mean something to people, even if it’s specific people or a niche.”

That philosophy, he explained, was central to his decision to join the production. Rather than measuring music’s value solely by its commercial reach, Tchella is interested in seeing how it connects with people and becomes part of their experiences.

“There’s a clear outcome, there’s a clear reach, there’s a clear impact, and I love being a part of projects that speak to that,” he said.

Ado-Ire’s Quest follows five teenagers in the riverine community of Ado Ire as they embark on a journey to recover a stolen paddle of light. The production brings its adventure narrative into a wider conversation about difference, belonging and the strengths people can discover in themselves and others.

The musical’s inclusive approach is also reflected in its participation of children with disabilities and neurodivergent children, positioning inclusion as part of the production experience rather than simply a theme within the story.

Tchella’s contribution to the theme song extends the production’s storytelling beyond the stage, using music as another way to engage audiences with the world and ideas of Ado-Ire’s Quest. His involvement reflects an interest in collaborations where the work has a defined purpose and where its relationship with an audience extends beyond visibility alone.

For the production, the theme song offers an additional point of connection between the musical and its audience. For Tchella, it represents the kind of creative collaboration he wants to pursue: one in which music can become part of a larger experience and leave a meaningful impression on the people who encounter it.

Ado-Ire’s Quest is a production of Patrick Speech & Language Centre, with New Wine Studios involved in bringing the stage musical to life. The production is scheduled to premiere at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, on December 12 and 13, 2026.
