2027: NDC to Unveil Campaign Council, Disclose Finances Monday

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will unveil its National Campaign Council on Monday as part of efforts to strengthen its preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the party also set to publicly present its statement of account.

The two activities will feature prominently at the party’s third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed this in a statement dated October 23, describing the planned disclosure of its finances as a demonstration of its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The NDC said its National Treasurer would present the party’s statement of account at the meeting, challenging other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to embrace similar openness in managing their finances.

“For the NDC, it is no longer politics as usual,” the party declared.
The party also linked its financial constraints to the economic hardship in the country, claiming that about 80 per cent of its candidates could not afford Expression of Interest forms.
According to the statement, the party responded by providing the forms free of charge to the affected candidates, citing widespread poverty, hunger and deprivation.

The NDC blamed the economic situation on the APC-led government’s policies, arguing that the hardship had affected the ability of some aspirants to meet the financial requirements for participating in the political process.
Beyond the financial disclosure, the meeting will provide an opportunity for the party to unveil its National Campaign Council, which it said would cover campaigns for the presidency, National Assembly, governorship and state Houses of Assembly.

The party also announced plans to present Certificates of Return to its candidates for their respective offices.
The unveiling comes as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 elections, with campaign structures expected to play a key role in coordinating candidates, mobilising supporters and communicating party programmes to voters.

The NDC said it was ready to offer Nigerians what it described as altruistic leadership, reaffirming its slogan: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
