The candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has donated 1,000 solar-powered street lights for installation in dark spots and vulnerable communities across Ibarapaland, Oyo State.
Olajide announced the donation at an APM Ibarapa zonal reconciliation and strategy meeting, saying the intervention was aimed at improving night-time security, supporting local commerce and illuminating public spaces across the region.
The meeting was led by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, and attended by the party’s governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, alongside party leaders and grassroots stakeholders from across the state.
Addressing party members and community leaders, Olajide said the 1,000 solar-powered streetlights would be distributed across the three local government areas in Ibarapaland: Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.
He also pledged to provide motorised boreholes to address water scarcity and grade key rural roads linking farms to markets.
According to him, the proposed interventions would complement the infrastructural development efforts of the Oyo State Government.
The lawmaker said his senatorial ambition was driven by a commitment to delivering tangible, community-focused projects, adding that he would work to fulfil his campaign promises if elected in 2027.
Olajide also urged voters to demand accountability from public officeholders, criticising politicians who, according to him, distribute money during election periods without delivering tangible development projects to their constituencies.
He urged residents to scrutinise the records of candidates and assess their contributions to constituency development rather than relying on election-season financial inducements.
“ It is your money; collect it from them. They have done nothing tangible for you in the past few years than spending money up and down without projects or anything concrete to show for it at the federal level,” he said.
