Makinde urges Nigerians to join ‘Reset’ Agenda

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde

The presidential candidate of the Advanced Progressive Movement (APM) for the 2027 election and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has called on Nigerians to join him and his running mate, Lawal Daura, in the agenda to make Nigeria work for everybody.

Speaking via a video appearance at the weekend during the launch of the “MAD Resetter Movement” and the inauguration of RESET agent state coordinators in Lagos, Governor Makinde said the nation needs to reset its economy, security architecture, educational system, and socio-political environment.

“If Nigeria is not working for you right now, then you need to be a resetter,” he said.
Makinde likened claims of a rising foreign reserve to a household where the head of the house tells members they have a lot of money in a savings account, yet everyone is hungry and not being taken towards prosperity or towards a point where they can stand alone.

“People in that household are not being taken towards prosperity, towards where they can stand alone, towards where the youth of that household are able to access opportunities and live their dreams,” he said.
He wished the organisers well and encouraged them to also take the movement to other parts of Nigeria.
Also speaking at the event, former Aviation Minister and Director-General of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign 2027, Chief Felix Hassan Hyat, expressed delight at what the organisers were doing.

He questioned the government’s claims that its policies are working when the people are hungry, young graduates cannot get jobs, parents cannot sleep with their two eyes closed, youths are out at night trying to protect their homes from bandits and kidnappers, and companies are exiting Nigeria for smaller countries.
According to him, during his youth service in present-day Ekiti State, the teachers he served with were Ghanaians who were taken sardines and Geisha, eating only bread because they came in order to get something to take back home.

He said a fraction of what God has given to Nigeria is more than what is in Ghana, and asked why Ghanaians are better off today.

“It is just an issue of government and nothing else,” he said.
He said when he monitored an election in Ghana, a policeman posted to a polling unit stayed far away as it was not his business who the people voted for.

“The year I went to Ghana for an election, the Electoral Commissioner, who was a woman, was invited to the Government House by the President. She told the President she was only answerable to Ghanaians, not the President. But it is not so in Nigeria,” he said.

“We have become a pitiful nation for no reason. God has endowed us with a lot of resources, and we are producing super-rich people and also super-poor people in the same country with the resources that God gave to all of us.
“If you don’t know, it is a different thing, and now you know. If you allow it to happen in 2027, you shouldn’t blame anybody. We want to go back to a nation of prosperity.

“I listened to the President’s people a while ago saying they inherited a failed economy, but from the same APC government of Buhari — and Buhari didn’t inherit a failed economy from Jonathan. So, who are they deceiving? The time for deceit has passed; we cannot allow it to continue.”

The event also witnessed the endorsement of the Makinde/Daura ticket by forum of PDD LGA chairmen in Lagos State, goodwill messages from Prince Laja Adeoye, the APM Gubernatorial candidate, Lagos State
