Group endorses Otti, Anyaso, rejects third-term bid for Bende Reps
The Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Governor, Victor Udeh, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu West Senatorial District to mobilise support for the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Udeh made the call at the APC Enugu West Zonal Meeting held at the Awgu Local Council Headquarters at the weekend, citing the Mbah administration’s investments in education, healthcare, aviation and infrastructure as reasons for the people to support the government’s development agenda.
He highlighted the establishment of Enugu Air, the construction of 268 Smart Green Schools and 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, as well as the ongoing international hospital project.
He also disclosed that Enugu Air was expected to commence flights from Enugu to Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom by December 2026, while a route to Guangzhou, China, was projected for the first quarter of 2027.
On power rotation in the state, Udeh urged Enugu West residents to consider the implications of their political choices ahead of the next election, arguing that Mbah’s re-election would provide a pathway for power to return to the district.
ALSO, a prominent political and community stakeholders’ group in Bende Local Council Area of Abia State, Bende Forum–New Abia, has formally endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office and Dr Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso as its preferred candidate for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The endorsements were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a critical stakeholders’ meeting held in Igbere, Bende Local Council Area.
In the communique endorsed by officials and stakeholders of the group, including its Chairman and Secretary, alongside the Chairman of Bende Local Council Area and other community representatives, the Forum, which describes itself as the assembly and political voice of Bende people, said its decisions were informed by the need to promote good governance, equity, fairness, political inclusion and sustainable development across Bende Local Council Area and Abia State.
The stakeholders said their endorsement followed a careful consideration of the political aspirations, antecedents, pedigree and suitability of candidates seeking to represent the constituency.
It expressed confidence in Anyaso’s suitability for the position and called on the people of Bende to place the constituency’s collective development above narrow political interests.
