Nigeria extends UK passport intervention exercise to November 27

Nigeria Immigration service

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom to November 27, 2026, to accommodate more Nigerians seeking passport services.

The service announced the extension in a public notice issued on Wednesday, saying the additional phase would run from Tuesday, November 3, to Friday, November 27, following sustained demand.

The exercise is being conducted in line with the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

According to the announcement, the intervention will continue in London and Manchester from November 3 to 27, while centres in Aberdeen and Cardiff will operate from November 3 to 6.

The NIS advised applicants to schedule appointments through its designated online form or the Nigeria High Commission’s website and adhere strictly to their appointment dates and times.

It said the arrangement was intended to ensure an orderly process and reduce waiting times.

The service added that Nigerians seeking passport renewal could also use its upgraded Contactless Passport Application System, which allows eligible applicants to complete the renewal process remotely.

Applicants attending the intervention centres are required to present a completed application form, proof of payment, an appointment printout and a self-addressed return envelope.

Those applying for passport renewal must also present their current passports.

The NIS warned that cash payments would not be accepted at the venues and that only applicants with prior appointment bookings would be attended to.
