Moments of the ‘dark nights of the soul!’

Sir: There are times in our lives when all hopes seems lost, a situation where one is so confused, sad and melancholic, thinking the worst would happen after all.

Yes, that very moment, one could be so desperate, gloomy, in dilemma and even contemplating suicide as the way out! Such moments are termed, “The Dark Nights Of The Soul.” A situation where one thinks nothing would work again; a condition of complete hopeless thoughts.

There is a very old and witty axiom: “Friends always forget those whom fortune forsakes!” Exactly!

Many times you are lonely, sad and silent over your troubles and travails. The Holy Spirit knows your battles and situation than anybody else. He will intervene, even at the very right time.

You are on your own in life, except you meditate along with Him and accept the philosophy that, “One with God is majority.”

You have nobody but God. Listen to the divine rhythm in your heart. Calm your mind in the ethereal comfort of your Maker.

All these boils down to the fact that blood brothers and sisters, friends and even family members would betray, disappoint and forsake you at the moment you needed them most.

But if you have the aura, halo and presence of the Almighty God in your spirit, you are a conqueror and you will definitely become a survivor. Take it or leave it.

There is this powerful phrase from the Yoruba spiritual cosmology, “Ti o ba ku die ki omo olore jin si koto, monomono a se ise imole fun omo Olorun!” meaning, “Even in terrible darkness and looming disaster, the Almighty God will shine the light and rescue His own people, the kind-hearted, from doom at the nick of time!”

Summarily, another great quote surfaces, “I thank my Maker that in the midst of judgement, He has remembered mercy. I humbly entreat my Redeemer, to give strength to lead henceforth a purer life than I have done hitherto!” The above is a statement from a survivor.

Conclusively, “There is always a sparkling light at the end of a dark tunnel.” Do not give up, no matter what. When the whole world dumps and forsakes you, God will keep and uphold you.

The Almighty God is closer to you than you can ever imagine. And He will surely do it!!! Think about it.
