The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) branch, has declared an indefinite strike over the failure to implement the 2025 agreement with the Federal Government and settle outstanding staff entitlements.
The strike took effect at midnight on Thursday, October 29, after a 14-day ultimatum issued to the university management expired without a resolution.
In a statement dated October 29, the branch chairperson, Prof. Olujimi Dada, and secretary, Dr Soji Arinola, said the decision followed an emergency congress held on Wednesday, October 28.
The union described the action as “total, comprehensive and indefinite”, citing the failure to address the issues raised in its ultimatum.
ASUU said the strike followed the failure to resolve the demands contained in its ultimatum, particularly the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement and the payment of outstanding staff entitlements
The development is expected to disrupt academic activities at the university, although the union did not specify in the statement how long the action would last beyond describing it as indefinite.
