Uzodimma remains Imo West senatorial candidate, APC insists

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has reaffirmed Governor Hope Uzodimma as its candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, dismissing reports circulating on social media suggesting a change in the party’s choice.

The party said Uzodimma, who won its senatorial primary, remained its candidate, adding that its legal department would review the outcome of the legal intervention in the matter and take appropriate action.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, said the party was aware of unverified reports being circulated across social media platforms by opposition figures concerning the purported change in its candidate for the district.

The party, however, insisted that there was no change in its position on Uzodimma’s candidacy.

“The party wishes to state without any confusion that His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the candidate of our party for Imo West Senatorial District, having won the primaries of our great party with the overwhelming support of the majority of our party members,” the statement said.

The APC added that its legal department would study the outcome of the legal intervention in the matter before determining the appropriate steps to take.

The party also urged its members and supporters to remain focused and avoid distractions arising from the reports, while continuing to work towards its electoral prospects across the state.
