Fashion label, Clovis, returns in grand style

In an industry dominated by rapid trend cycles and non-stop production, taking a voluntary five-year pause at the height of commercial success is a rare move.

Yet that is precisely what Louis Akorede Awode did with his fashion label, ClovisCasuals. Now, after half a decade of study and restructuring, the brand has officially relaunched under a refined identity, CLOVIS, operating out of a new global headquarters in Atlanta.

Founded in Ibadan in 2014 with just 15,000 Naira and a single sewing machine, Awode’s fashion house was a textbook bootstrapped success story.

It expanded into Lagos, moved more than 20,000 garments, and built a star-studded clientele that included Nigerian cultural figures like Asake, Olamide, Laycon, and Yhemolee.

However, Awode realized that organic regional growth was only the first step. To transition from a local independent label to a sustainable, scalable international enterprise, he made the strategic decision to step back and pursue formal business training.

During the brand’s operational hiatus, Awode completed a Master’s degree in International Business and Marketing in Scotland and is now finishing a STEM-designated MBA in the United States.

“This is not a debut. This is a return. We paused to grow. We are back to build something permanent. I have always loved transforming ideas into real life, and that is the reason I decided to pursue my MBA.”

The relaunch comes with a shift in business model toward a structured global direct-to-consumer platform debuting with The Renaissance Collection.
