Nigerian menswear brand Kimono Kollection has unveiled a 70-look Spring/Summer 2027 (SS27) collection as part of activities marking its 16th anniversary.
The event is signalling a new phase in the brand’s growth and creative direction.
The collection was showcased at the brand’s first-ever fashion show, tagged: ‘Threads of Time,’ held in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
The event brought together fashion designers, industry stakeholders, celebrities and lifestyle personalities, providing a platform for the brand to showcase its evolution, craftsmanship and positioning within Nigeria’s contemporary menswear industry.
The SS27 collection featured a range of designs across black, cream, brown, green, burgundy and grey colour palettes, reflecting the brand’s interpretation of modern menswear and its emphasis on tailoring and creative expression.
Founded by Hakeem Balogun, Kimono Kollection was established with a vision to redefine contemporary Nigerian menswear through quality craftsmanship and a distinctive approach to traditional dressing.
Balogun, who returned to Nigeria in 2009 after two years of design, training and styling experience in London, identified an opportunity to introduce a more refined approach to Nigerian menswear through impeccable tailoring.
A documentary presented at the anniversary showcase traced the designer’s journey from the Lagos Island market to building an established fashion brand, highlighting the experiences, relationships and creative decisions that have shaped its 16-year journey.
The presentation, which formed part of the Threads of Time concept, reinforced the importance of consistency, craftsmanship and the people behind the growth of a fashion business.
Creative Director of Kimono Kollection, Balogun, expressed his excitement at the milestone, saying, “Give me thread and needle and the rest is history.”
His remarks indicated the brand’s commitment to the fundamentals of tailoring and the creative vision that has sustained its operations over the years.
The runway presentation also featured several notable personalities, including actors Wale Ojo, Efe Iwara, Tobi Bakre, Leo Da Silva and Cross Okonkwo, as well as Saskay.
An inclusive runway presentation further highlighted the importance of representation and diversity in the fashion industry.
One of the evening’s highlights was the surprise appearance of Dipothevoice (Oladipupo Ogundele) during the black-themed segment of the collection.
The event, hosted by actor Tobi Bakre, also featured a special giveaway, with the presenter gifting his first-ever Kimono suit to a guest selected from the audience.
Other prominent attendees included fashion designers Mai Atafo, Vodi and Lanre Da Silva, alongside fashion and lifestyle personalities such as Dabota Lawson, Akin Faminu, Kiki Osibanjo and Powede Awujo.
Beyond celebrating its anniversary, the showcase provided Kimono Kollection with an opportunity to reinforce its brand identity, engage fashion industry stakeholders and present its latest designs to a wider audience.
The event was supported by Isimi Lagos, Martell, Coca-Cola, Fat Gbems and White Stone Jewellers.
The brand said customers interested in its latest collection could visit its Instagram page, @kimonokollection, its website, kimono-kollection.com, or any of its retail outlets.
