One feared dead as robbers attack bank’s ATM

DARE-DEVIL armed robbers Wednesday attacked the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a branch of United Bank for Africa (UBA) located on Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti, carting away an undisclosed amount of money.

A source disclosed that an unidentified person was shot dead during the attack, but Ekiti State Commissioner of Police Taiwo Lakanu who confirmed the robbery attack, however, said no life was during the attack on the ATM.

An eyewitness said he saw a lifeless body in front of the bank early in the morning when being conveyed to the morgue but could not identify the victim.

Lakanu said the bank was attacked around 2am on Wednesday disclosing that one of the armed robbers had been arrested and he is helping the police to unravel others on the run.

When journalists visited the bank, there was a large presence of police around the bank.

Also customers who besieged the bank for transactions could not be attended to as the financial institution locked its doors.

Officials the bank refused to speak, they directed newsmen to their head office in Lagos.

The attack had also sent fears to some banks in the metropolis as many of them did not open for operation.

Customers who spoke to journalists lamented incessant attacks on banks in the state and called on the government to address it without further delay.

The Commissioner of Police said his men were already investigating the incident adding that those connected with the robbery would be apprehended.
