Offices full of acfivities as Lagos workers retun after Sallah holidays

Normal activities resumed at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, as workers in the different ministries and agencies resumed work after the Sallah holidays.

The Federal Government had declared Friday and Monday as public holidays to enable Muslims celebrate the Eid-el- Fitri, a festival that marks the end of Ramadan fast.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) observed that as early as at 9 a.m., civil servants had settled for the day’s job, carrying out routine work and attending to clients.

At the and Civil Services Commission office and Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, workers were seen in their offices treating files while some others were attending to visitors who had come for enquiries and other businesses.

The situation was the same at the Ministry of Health, as workers were seen in their offices carrying out some tasks.

Some workers were seen exchanging pleasantries at the car park of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs, after which they moved to their offices for the day`s business.

At the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Information, most of the office seats were occupied as workers were seen treating files and carrying out other office work.

The situation was not different at the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Science and Technology, as workers were busy in their offices carrying out their normal duties.

Commercial banks situated within the Secretariat also witnessed long queues, as customers trooped in to carry out various transactions.
Security officials manning the different gates leading into the secretariat were also seen controlling vehicular traffic into the secretariat.

Car parks at the ministries of Transportation and Urban and Regional Planning were almost completely occupied by vehicles belonging to staff members who had reported for work.

A staff of the Ministry of Finance, who simply gave his name as Tayo, told NAN that his colleagues in the ministry had put the excitement of the Sallah break behind them and had reported for work.

Also, a staff in the Deputy Governor’s Office who pleaded anonymity told NAN that work had begun in earnest as attendance was high.
