Glam Africa Fashion beckons
ALL is now set for the maiden edition of the Glam Africa Fashion Night (GAFN) billed for Sunday, February 22, 2015. Organised as part of the London Fashion Week, the event, which will be staged at Porchester Hall, Bayswater, London, is a unique event that will play host to about 500 fashionable guests.
Tagged, A Night Of Fashion, Glamour and Music, the show will feature exquisite collections from six luxury African fashion designers, most of whom have clothed international celebrities. There will also be performances from African and British artistes.
Ahead of the event, the organisers have announced six fashion houses as participants at the show. They are, Yemi Osunkoya’s Kosibah, Tina Lobondi, Kwame Koranteng, Feyisola Adeyemi’s Simply Glamourous Fashion (SGF), Larissa Meat’s Larissa Mode and Elizabeth’s Eldimaa Fashion.
A specialist in contemporary and elegant couture bridal, evening and formal wears, Osunkoya established the Kosibah brand in London in 1991, and it has won numerous international awards. His signature use of corsetry and boned bodices cleverly recreates the classical and elegant hourglass figure, producing gowns that curve, shape and flatter the wearer.
His celebrated clients include, Louise Rose, leading actress of Universal film Life and Lyrics; Alesha Harvey; Sheila Ferguson, formerly of the Three Degrees; the Hollywood actress Indra Ové; former Miss World, Agbani Darego and the singer Stephanie Benson. His clientele is truly worldwide, though particularly well represented in the UK, Nigeria and USA.
On her part, Congolese designer, Tina Lobondi, has had her collections grace the runway at Mercedes Fashion Week Africa and the Luxury Sofitel Hotel for Runway Dubai Show. Tina’s clientele include, Grammy Award winner, singer Angelique Kidjo; MOBO’s Awards CEO, Kanya King and singer Lianne La Havas.
Eldimaa Fashion, another designer for the London show, combines classic British silhouettes with the richness of African fabric. Eldimaa has become well known for bold and vibrant collections ranging from everyday fashionable dresses and corporate wear to trendy accessories and couture red carpet-worthy dresses. The brand has featured in numerous fashion shows during London Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, London Borough of Hounslow Black History Month.
A renowned multiple award winning bespoke designer and stylist for men and women, Kwame Koranteng, after working for George clothing as the head designer, joined KGTKKT Couture in 2009, which is now called Kwame Koranteng Bespoke Tailoring as the head designer and stylist.
On her part, Larissa Meat, who is originally from Cote d’Ivoire, established Larissa Mode in 2011. Her ready-to-wear garments are exclusively hand crafted in fabrics with exciting prints with a mixture of ethnic and contemporary designs.
The last, but not the least is Feyisola Adeyemi of Simply Glamorous Fashion, which was established in 2012 and is a brand that specialises in top quality clothing across the globe.
