THE Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed March 4 as the date for the 2015 UTME Computer-Based Test (CBT).
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Fabian Benjamin said the JAMB UTME CBT would take place on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, adding that about 1.4 million candidates would be sitting for the Computer-Based Test, CBT, across the country.
Benjamin revealed that the board has introduced a regulated registration format, where only CBT centres and state offices across the country are authorised to register candidates.
UNIUYO Commences New Academic Year In March
THE senate of University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has approved the commencement of the 2014/2015 academic year to begin from Monday, March 2, 2015.
The screening/registration exercise of students of the school would also start on the same day.
The school’s authority in a statement has called all the newly admitted students of the university to report to their respective faculty screening centres with their original credentials, after which they will be cleared to pay their tuition fees at designated bank(s) before registering online.
The statement also said old/returning students will follow laid down procedures for their online registration after the payment of approved fees.
Any student registering online from Monday, March 2 to Saturday, March 21, 2015 would not pay any penalty, while those registering from Monday, March 23 to Monday, April 6, 2015 would be fined for late registration.
BSU Matriculates 5,210 Students
THE Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, on Friday, matriculated about 5,210 students at its 23rd matriculation ceremony.
Disclosing this figure in her address, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof. Charity Angya, said the matriculation ceremony marked the formal admission of candidates into the university.
She said the freshmen were selected out of 7,457 candidates who sat for the last Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the 3,343 Direct Entry candidates that applied.
Advising the news students to pay attention to their studies and shun vices, the don stressed that the school authority has put in place security measures to check improper dressing, cultism, drug abuse and examination malpractices.
Nasarawa State Gov Donates ICT Centre To Varsity

Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, has donated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre to Bingham University, Karu. The centre has the capacity to accommodate 200 people at a time.
Al-Makura said the donation was a fulfillment of his promise to assist the school, as a way of improving the standard of education in the state and the country.
Inaugurating the centre, the governor said, “I built and equipped e-libraries with ICT facilities across the state in order to enhance learning and teaching.
He said: “I donated this ICT centre with modern facilities as part of my administration’s commitment to the development of computer education in the country.”
Emphasising the importance of ICT in the development of any society, Al-Makura called on the school’s lecturers and students to use the facility to enrich themselves with modern knowledge and for the overall development of the country.
