R&B singer, Femi Adeyinka well known by his stage moniker, Capital F.E.M.I has said he loves the change he is experiencing after leaving Kennis Music, but maintained the label was good to him while his recording contract lasted.
The singer had earlier in the year parted ways with music the Keke Ogungbe led Kennis Music, and had since set up his own outfit, 3six Music to further his career.
“I think the most constant thing in life is change and I have to say I’m love the change. Kennis Music was good to me while I was there. I do ask this question: without Kennis Music, would you know who Capital FEMI is? Chances are no. I appreciate everything they have done for me in my career to get to where I am. But I’m really excited, about my new team, and a new view about a lot of different things right now,” he said.
The singer, who recently released a new single, Tumbo, a highlife romantic tune revealed his exit from Kennis Music has not altered his sound, but stressed that the only change is that of personnel.
“The sound hasn’t really changed; it’s just giving you a different Capital F.E.M.I in the fusion that you used to hear it. But I’m still an R&B act; you will still get the classics from me,” he revealed.
Kennis Music CEO, Keke Ogungbe had in a chat with Punch said, “A 40 or 41 year-old Femi Adeyinka aka Capital FEMI, who sings R&B type of music in Nigeria has the right to say whatever he wants to say about his contractual agreement with Kennis Music on the pages of newspapers and online.”
According to Ogungbe, Capital FEMI dropped only one album in six years as opposed to the four albums he signed up for in his six-year deal with Kennis Music. “It is worthy to note, however, that he penned to a six-year/four full albums contract in December 2009 and only one album dropped up till date,” Keke revealed.
