Members of the Nasarawa State Chapter of Judicial Staff Union (JUSUN), temporarily prevented the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Suleiman Dikko, from gaining entrance to his office in Lafia on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the union have been on strike since Feb. 16.

It took sustained pleadings by the CJ before the workers allowed him to move to his office.

Members of the State Judicial Service Commission were earlier allowed access to the State High Court Headquarters for a meeting over the JUSUN strike.

Jimoh Musa, Chairman of JUSUN in the state, told newsmen that the strike would continue until all their nine demands are met.

The judicial workers grievances include among others none promotion and annual increment of salaries, and refusal to convert qualified staff to judges.

He called on the members to remain at home pending further directive from the union.

Meanwhile, the Chief Judge has directed all judicial service workers in the state to return to work or lose their pay.

“Any staff that failed to report to his or her duty post today would not be paid for the period he or she is not in office,” spokesman of the state High Court, Enoch Ali-Maku, said.
